IRS Rear EndThe rear will have independent rear suspension, commonly called IRS. There are two versions, the standard width, and the "pin drive" width. The pin drive narrows the rear by 2.5" per side for a net width of 54.5". Here is the standard width, 59.5" using FFR axles and arms:
Here is the T-Bird Super Coupe 8.8" IRS picked up 9/18/02: Tag: 3L2788 meaning 3.27:1 ratio, Traction Lock, 8.8" size, common to all T-Bird SuperCoupes.

Lower control arm in place. (LCA) Installed by Terence Saluone Rear view. Top view IRS Drivers side IRS, no spring or shock, or brakes. Passenger's side done without brakes. With rotors, the narrowed ("Pin Drive") width is 54.5"; half shafts 15.5" long each the FFR standard width is 59.5"; half shafts 18" long each The Ford T-Bird width is 63.5"; half shafts 20" long each
