Vintage Wheels

These are premium grade wheels; my neighbor Terry Stapley, just got a set for his roadster:
Terry Stapley switched from 5-spoke 17" Team III rims to 6-spoke 15" Vintage pin drive wheels!
He is very pleased:

Here is a close up:

Advantages:
- True knock-on (knock-off) rims.
- Excellent workmanship, beautiful finish
- Spokes painted like the original magnesium (more period correct)
- Machining on adapters perfect (pins concentric!)
- No lug nuts or covers
- Extremely attractive prices
- Two choices of backspace 3.6" and 4"
- Two choices of diameter: 15" or 17"

I have seen these personally; beautiful craftsmanship.

When Terry Stapley replaced his Team III 17" wheels with Vintage Wheels 15" pin drives, it appeared the adapters were the same dimensions as Trigo. 3/4" diameter pins, same threads on spinner, etc.

In the UK, the Jag suspension is common, so some people switch their Jag hubs out for a "Simon Hub" that provides a 5-pin arrangement without an adapter. The reason is to narrow the front as much as possible. The Simon Hub used a Trigo adapter at the design target.

Anyway, Vintage Wheels are now being shipped to the UK and the question came up if the Vintage Spinner would fit the Simon Hub.

Terry lives very close so he pulled a Vintage Wheels spinner Tuesday and I tried it on my Trigo adapters...perfect fit! Images below show the gold spinner (Trigo) and Silver spinner (Vintage). No issues.

So, if one needs or wants an extra set of pin drive rims, a set of Vintage Wheels will do the trick. At Only $1100 a set, it is a steal, too!!

Test of spinner threads.

Here is a Trigo spinner on a Trigo adapter:

Here are both spinners:

Here is the Vintage spinner on the Trigo hub:

So, from what I can tell, the wheels and spinners are interchangeable.

Size compared to Goodyear "Billboards", rears S/T left BB right and fronts BB left and S/T right:

Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T 295/50R15 has 10" tread, same as GY "Billboard" and 1" less than GY GT II same size.

Result, better fender clearance,.
